Okay, so Moss Man sold out in seconds. That caught everyone by surprise. Who knew flocking was so popular!

Moss Man wasn't produced in any quota smaller to Adora and Trap Jaw but we did split his non subscription production between the flocked and non flocked variants. So that did mean their was less of one particular version. But it all does come out in the end.

Either way, at the end of the day the line is clearly picking up more and more fans as we go along and we are doing our best to keep up. Production will increase but it doesn't happen overnight as raw materials are purchased many months before a figure goes on sale.

We'll also continue to make improvements with Digital River and we do have a laundry list of corrections we are still implementing in the buying process.

A lot of fans are asking specifically about the 10 per order limit (which was demanded by fans after our initial 4 per person limit was rejected as being "not enough!").

Well, once again I went through every order today and once again VERY few customers are ordering 10 (in fact very few order more then 4). I know people are seeing a ton of Moss Man on the secondary market, but remember, we offered subscriptions in the summer of 2010 and customers were allowed an unlimited amount of subscriptions. It is very likely some fans bought subscriptions for the sole purpose of reselling them. And you know what, they have every right to do this.

The subscriptions were open for 3 weeks and anyone could buy as many as they needed or wanted. Their really was not a more fair way to offer an alternative to waiting each month to buy the non subscription production. If you wanted to buy figures right from Mattycollector.com and not a reseller, the chance was open for every monthly figure in 2010.

We will increase production as demand continues to go up and I'm sure Moss Man will be back in time (but I can tell you it won't be in 2010). The 2011 subscription will be available starting the Wednesday night of SDCC 2010. For those customers who want their figures guaranteed with no wait and no hassle, be sure to take advantage of this buying method!

We'll keep working to bring the best product we can to you. There is never a resting point. Long live MOTUC!

Scott

Don't you think the Subscription holders should have been given the option of the flocked or un-flocked version of moss man?

Best collection ever.

Hey Toyguru,

Thank you for updating us on the status of the line and how things are moving along. Do you know if the Flocked Moss Man will be reissued or just the un-flocked one? I guess, I really want to know if I need to go to Ebay to get the flocked version? I already have the un-flocked version through the sub, but really would like both versions. Thank you again.

Take Care,
Darren

That just was not logistically possible. It was hard enough making the running change due to fan demand for non flocked ears. To try and cater to each individual subscribers wish would have been a nightmare.

What we will do is when we bring Moss Man back down the road, we'll go into production from the start on both flocked and non flocked ears 50/50 so their is plenty to go around!

Good to hear. That should keep the secondary market prices in check knowing that both versions are going to see a re-issue.

I know I am very pleased at this announcement.

Fair enough. I forsee 2011 being the end of the MOTUC's scalper market. Anyone who is serious about collecting this amazing line will have to bite the bullet and pick up the sub. I'm thrilled that I got one for 2009 and 2010!!! I still had to sweat the race for Battle Cat, but today was a "no stress" MOTUC's collecting day. I needed the re-issue Stratos, but had a feeling he would last more than 1 hour. Now the Hordak re-issue may be scary!! Tytus will be a crap shoot as well.

I truly hope that Mattel at least DOUBLES the production of all of the monthly MOTUC's figures moving forward. I'm confident that they could have EASILY sold double the number of Battle Cat, Trapjaw, and Moss Man figures out of the gate if they would have been made available. I'd even go out on a limb to say that they still would have sold out within the first day.

I will say that despite how terrible today was for MOTUC's collectors, I do really appreciate that Matty was upfront about the "situation" so that it was no big suprise. Maybe they have finally learned that it is easier to prevent the geek rage fires, than to put them out after the fact......

Thanks for letting us know about the flocking/unflocking ratio as well. To all those fans wanting the flocked ear version - WAIT FOR IT!!! Do not pay outlandish prices to scalpers on the secondary market. Let them keep their Moss Men all to themselves. Hopefully they bought so many that their homes begin to overwhelmingly smell like the pine scent!!

Long Live MOTUC's!

I hope Mattel does realize they are following the same path Beanie Babies went down. This marketing strategy only holds water for so long...

Well everything you said just sucks, but thanks for the update. It's sad that a subscription I can't afford seems to be the only way I can get the few figures I want in a line. I'm just not sure it's worth the headache anymore. Multiple orders, constant refreshing, fighting tooth and nail just to buy a toy. I suppose patience is a virtue, I just wish I could have gotten the toys I wanted today. Who knows if I'll even have the money next year.

I will not buy any figures I don`t want to own.

I don`t buy/bought Adora, She-Ra, Gy-Gor, Orko and Marzo. With a sub I have to buy them!

It`s a pity, that the production numbers for the figures are so low, it`s more ridiculos when only a few non-sub-buyers bought 10 figures.

And it`s not okay for fans to wait for a Re-Release (Trap Jaw/Battle Cat/Moss Man) over 6 months or more for a figure, that sold out in several minutes...

I will not pay money for figures, I not already know...

A few well placed "Xxxxxx"s and now you can just copy/paste this statement from month to month instead of trying to put a new spin on it each time. Just replace the xxxxxx with the character of your choice and 99% of the work is done for you.

That`s right, it`s everytime the same:

"Wow, the figure has sold out in 5 seconds, incredible..."

Because sub = guarenteed cash...

As awesome as the figures are, as worse are the possibilities to buy them...
