Anyone can find any number of complaints about the same issue on any G.I. JOE collecting site. I've had Marvel Universe figures do the same thing straight out of the package. This problem is in no way exclusive to Mattel.

Yeah, but it tends to be far more common with Mattel products. Haven't heard of any Hasbro Marvel Legends with exploding posteriors like we had with Sinestro a while back. I've had more problems with Mattel QC the last few years than with all other companies I buy from combined.

I like the type 2 bodies they made for the IH figures, but they do feel more fragile when I'm posing them than either the Joes or Marvel Universe.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting these are the same quality as the modern JOE figures or Marvel Universe. If they were, I'd own a lot more of them. I was just saying that buying another company's figures doesn't guarantee joints that won't break. My Secret Wars Wolverine's hand is held in place by a pin that I cut down and inserted into his arm. None of the DCIH figures I've purchased broke, but I put Black Adam in the freezer for about twenty minutes before turning his wrists, or those probably would have.

I feel everyone's pain. I was so stoked to find out they were finally going to make the entire universe in an "affordable" scale. I want my kids to have the whole universe at their disposal. I am sticking with the line, hoping the technical details will smooth out. I just worry they will cut the line off before giving us must haves like Aquaman, Darkseid, Plastic Man etc.

I am just simply dumbfounded. It seems Hasbro has hit the nail on the head with their 3.75" figs. Like a mini version of their Legends line. I am confused as to why DC can't apply that same work, making theirs the mini versions of the DC Classics line.

They could line their pockets with gold then.

Hasbro has had years and years in this scale to get as good as they are with it. Marvel Universe is closer to G.I. JOE than it is to smaller versions of Marvel Legends. Personally, I don't care for the 6" Mattel DC figures at all, so I would prefer it if they didn't take that approach. Mattel has made a lot of progress with this scale in just a couple of years, so I hope pumping it full of Green Lantern in a movie year gets retailers back on board.

Actually, I believe the 'paradigm shift' for both lines was when Hasbro entered the '25th Anniversary' era and Mattel hit 'Avatar' with a new focus... Nonetheless, the MU line is a lot more closer to their 6" predecessors than it is to G.I. Joe in many respects, and 'Avatar' figures borrow quite a few things from DCU's articulation system. That's why I agree with lordwormm: it'd be nice to see the good features of the bigger figures in their smaller counterparts. Hopefully the JLU Starro multi-pack did extremely well during this SDCC... I believe it'd give Mattel clue on what to do with this scale in the months to come.

The Avatar toys were terrible, which would explain the comparison, considering how lackluster Mattel's 6" DC line is. And no, the Marvel Universe line is not closer to their Marvel Legends line than it is to the 25th Anniversary construction style. The articulation blends into the sculpts better, and a lot more effort has been put into the paint applications. The Marvel team borrowed heavily from what the G.I. JOE team started and went in a slightly different direction with it.

Well the Marvel guys do have a lot in common with GI Joe, but still some similarities to Legends, either way, I am far happier with the sculpts, paints and "stay-together-ability".

I am in love with Mattel's line, I just strongly feel they ignore some more of the details that Marvel seems to pride themselves on.

Martian Manhunter's extreme hip-thigh balls. Grodd's more cartoonish face. Hawkman reminded me of PUCK from Alpha Flight going as a Thanagarian for Halloween.

I haven't complained about it, but I had a couple break as well, very easily.

Do you (Caped Crusader) have any complaints about Infinite Heroes? Just curious.
