This line is dead and Mattel can only blame itself. They should have took more interest in this line instead of treating like a kids line, big hands, tiny heads on most, females like Wonder girl taller than some of the adult males, just ridiculous. I'm changing my avatar.

lol...adding a comic that, at most would cost 25 cents to make and help package characters who might not get made in this line...and make them relevant to kids who might not have heard of the character before..that's a bad idea? no one said that a comic pack had to be like the JLU 3 packs that didn't come with accessories. the DCIH characters could, and when appropriate should, come with accessories, as long as they fit in those oversized hands. the star wars packs might have done better if they had picked better issues/characters than some of the shelf warming ones that got released. or at least that giant rabbit from the first issues of the comic...the one they said they'd never do. that one would've been fun to get.

I think what it all comes down to is mattel would have to show some kind of interest in this line instead of just saying it's up to retailers. It needs to be re-invented or re-launched with a fresh start, otherwise it'll continue to loose retailer support (like what's happening now).

THere's a very strong grain of truth in there, and I think it goes beyond just what's happening now. Aside from the usual problems with actually producing the product so it can get to retailers, Mattel seems to be, well, sitting back and leaving everything in retailers hands. There just seems to be a "we put it out and what happens, happens" attitude toward the line. We had a few retailer packs, but I haven't seen much that gives me the idea that Mattel had a whole lot of interest in the line from day one. I have to admit, now that I'm seeing the version 2 male figures, the original figures really do look bad. Setting the new Hal next to the old one, the original version looks like something from that famous company, "Made in China." Scales are all over the place and the stuff is getting absolutely blown away by Hasbro's Marvel Universe as far as detail and sculpt go. We basically got this form Mattel: "We needed to get the stuff out, so the first figures are just kinda okay. We'll be making better figures down the line, but you have to buy all the crappier ones first for us to do that." THere's things that have been done with DCUC, little touches here and there, that really show the folks involved have an interest in the line. I don't see that with Infinites, and I think that's part of the problem. Looking at the line right now, I see a message of "We have a 4" line out to have a 4" line out" and not a lot of real care being put into it.

I think that part of your statement sums up the problem with DCIH-it's not DCUC. Mattel was able to follow the pattern set out by Toy Boz's ML line at a time when it was accepted and the line took off. They put Infinite Heroes out and it didn't take off immediately so it just floundered around on life support. Mattel, and DC even more so, has a bad habit of supporting great ideas, but not trying to make okay ideas become great ideas. DC Minimates are a better example. Though not done by Mattel, the DC mindset was if it didn't knock the ball out of the park at the start, lets cut it from the team. Mattel could easily have a great line of 3 3/4 inch figures, but the refuse to give the line any attention.

Very sad that this line looks destined for the grave. The figures were looking better and better, but when you come out of the gate swinging small heads and overly large hands, you can't help but scratch your head. You have to think that Mattel saw what Hasbro was putting out at the time. I can only imagine the conversations they had... "Yeah, Hasbro is doing the 3 3/4 figure right. I have a better idea though! Let's make our figures with small heads, huge hands, and lets have the female figures be larger than the male figures." Brilliant!

True.Mattel is letting this line die. They are doing the same thing with the BATB line, and like this line, blaming everything on retailers.I wish they would put more focus on the 2 lines, and stop using the "kids line" and retailer excuses for everything. How many times can you drag the same old tired excuses out Mattel.

Blaming retailers for not being able to sell figures nobody want is sill for Mattel to do. They should have started with the popular figures and added to them by "family" instead of debuting with lesser-knowns and adding in popular ones later. Even odd sculpts on popular characters would still have kids wanting them.
