I had the opportunity to take the survey you guys put out and it seemed fairly obvious it was primarily directed to getting some info about my Avatar buying choices. Sadly, I had to answer that I haven't bought, nor intend to buy, any Avatar figures. I did buy some vehicles, but mainly to re-purpose into another brand's toyline.
As great as the DC articulation is at the larger scale, when shrunk down to 3.75 it leads to poor looks. Add to this the general poor likenesses to the actors and I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on these figures. I guess my main goal here is to see who else wants Avatar toys that actually look like the Avatar actors and can stand toe-to-toe with other brands' 3.75" to 4" offerings? |

I want to know why the Avatar figures place the human characters and the Na'vi in the same scale as one another. I haven't found anything that addresses this issue anywhere on the internet. What's the deal with that? The Na'vi are supposed to be like nine feet tall? Why are their figures the same height as the human characters?

I hate the toys, and it's a real shame. As much as I enjoyed the film, I could easily have purchased hundreds of dollars worth of action figure product. Before I can shell out the cash or swipe the card, however, I have to actually like the way a product looks, and Mattel's Avatar line fails. It just fails.
The flashy packaging might distract some people from the bland nature of the actual figures, but I'm not fooled. In fact, pasting the photo of each character's face on the packaging serves as a reminder of how far Mattel missed the mark by. The McDonald's Happy Meal toys did a better job of capturing some of the essence of the film, including some light effects that mimic the bioluminescence of the film characters and creatures. They also have sound- and motion-activated features. That's pretty impressive for a Happy Meal toy. What features do the Mattel figures offer? Oh yeah, a soft sculpt and boring paint applications. |

Well, the Na'vi figs are a little bit taller than the human figs aren't they? Maybe not to scale, but at least a little bit. In the end, that's the least of the worries for the figures. It's really too bad too. Jake Sully is a generic looking good guy, but the rest of the actors are all so dynamic it's a shame we didn't get that captured. The Colonel? Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver? They should be so cool but they look like they were sculpted in 1994. |

The RDA are listed at 3.75 and the Na'vi are listed at 4.25. Side by side compares so they are in scale.

It doesn't matter what the scale says, these are NO way near to being in scale. The MM figures are also terribly out of scale. Matty failed on the scale issue miserably.
Kids haven't seen Avatar and therefor won't be buying the toys anytime soon. ScareGlow |

These toys are a HUGE disappointment...I would have started collected if they were any good....Everything is crappy about them except for the vehicles....How could you not expect Hasbro to kick your but when you put out sloppy toys and you have the license of the biggest movie of all time...it is so bad....really!

Look how crappy the responses to the threads about this toy line. Paying attention yet Mattel? I didn't think so!

Awesome! Thanks for listening to comments that are not easy to digest! Avatar is such a cool flick that it deserved the Star Wars treatment!

I loved the movie and like almost everyone else, I only bought vehicles to cut up /paint and use for other toy lines. I hate to see how terrible the figures ended up, Please , finish it off, and get back to what has been successful, the time and money wasted on this line would have been better spent on DCUC accessories or improving the terrible sculpts on DCIH or simply keeping the cost down on other lines, It may not be the case but it feels like the DC collectors are shouldering the financial hit mattel has had to have taken on Avatar with recent price increases on both DC lines.
I imagine just the rights to produce this line was not cheap. |

What gets me for a movie that made SOOOOOO much money were created into figures who appear to be from another era. These figures look like they were made back in the 90's by Kenner >8-( True anything baring the "Avatar" name will sell, but c'mon; the toys need to be up to par or at least LOOK like the characters they represent. Star Wars anyone? Lord of the Rings? Take notes ^.^ I am sure it'll pay off. The Jake figure made, the Navi one, looks like a starry eyed blue puppy thing. Even holding a spear he looks like he's lost dog or something. Perhaps at least a special limited numbered "Movie masterpeice" edition figures in 12inch size, loads of articulation, Navi with glow-in-the-dark markings... Its good to dream! But til then, nah, I'll wait this toy line out -.- |

Yeah, it continues to be a bummer.
I easily have a thousand action figures in the 3.75 scale and not a single one from Avatar. |

Hey Peeps!
For a movie as massive as AVATAR has become, I've seen absolutely no 3 3/4 inch figures at retail, here in New Zealand. I wish I could find these first, and see what they are like first hand - but it's a search that's been in vain. I purchased the RDA Scorpion Gunship from Matty Collector (just before it and the rest of the line sold out), so it's the only AVATAR thing I own (glad I picked it up before it disappeared as it's a great vehicle). But it would be nice to see some semblance of AVATAR action figs appear in New Zealand - but even that looks increasingly unlikely... |
