I know you guys are really pushing the subscription. That's fine, whatever...but why make getting a subscription so hard. You can only order it for a certain time period the entire year. How do you expect people to jump into the line when we can't order figures from matty and we can't get a subscription for another 4 months. Why not allow people to get subs all year long? If you're making more than the number of subscribers, you just take one of the additional production pieces and then allocate that to a new subscriber.
I just find it really difficult to get into this line without being able to order figures from the site easily and not being able to get a sub now. Believe it or not, people are just finding out about this line now or are just getting into it now and you guys really aren't providing anything but obstacles to get the product you want to sell. I really have to ask, how is that good for business and attracting new customers?

I recently moved and have yet to change my credit card billing address for fear that my sub will not renew and be cancelled. It has happened to so many people already I do not even want to take the chance. In fact I have to get a new CC just to get my 2011 sub since my CC expires middle of next year and that could jeopardize the sub due to DR's incompetency! How sad is that?

The thing that makes no sense to me is why make 2 different versions in the same amount total as 1 version of Trapjaw and Adora? Did you not think that some people would want 1 of each?

I got Moss Man yesterday, but this is complete utter bs that figures are selling out in less than an hour, let alone 5 minutes. Why even bother selling the figures at all to non-subscribers? I mean it sounds like that is pretty much the way Mattel really wants to go with this line. You would think that after the jokes from last year they would have learned to have increase the production because as the figures continue to grow, so will its fanbase. I bet the series will be twice as popular next year from people who get into it at the end of this year. What then? Are you guys just going to sit there and still only produce enough to last 4 minutes? I fear I might not get an Evil-Lyn next month, or a Tytus in May. And my god, Faker, She-Ra, and Keldor in June. Lastly, the shopping cart is an issue. What is the point of one if the items aren't yours until after you pay for it? You don't go into Best Buy, having an item you want given to the cashier, but the cashier sells it to the guy ahead of you in line does he/she? How would you like it if that were to happen? When an item is placed in your shopping cart, you should have 10 minutes to finish your order, because you know, people want to shop for other things. I had to buy DCU Wave 12 as a seperate order thanks to the fear that I might not have Moss Man if I wanted that extra minute, and it looks like he would have been gone had I did that.
Completely agree with you. I missed out on a Unflocked MM yesterday because I wanted to keep shopping, so I could pick up 2 Stratos for me and a friend. So because of that I lost Moss Man. I feel that is a huge issue with alot of these companys. It happens on Hasbro's website as well. Once I can click "Add to Cart" it should be mine!!! Just as long as I submit in a FAIR time frame. I would really like to hear what Scott thinks of this idea. Cause this is really getting old, quick. I'm already preparing myself for NOT getting Evil-Lyn and that just sucks. And I will never buy a Sub, because I don't want them all. Especially now if they do the "All In Sub". Screw that, I shouldn't have to be forced to buy a figure I don't want. These toy companys take the praise "collect them all" way to literal.

I think a lot of you Marie-Antoinettes are missing the point here. And yes Balboa, we're going to keep crying. One of the most anticipated figures of the year sold out faster than anything yet and Mattel is treating it like a success. Yay for them, and congrats to the people who got one. All I ask is that you think about the thousands of us who obviously didn't. Mattel makes a killing off of this line every month and they act like they're really surprised at its success. Well its been months of sellouts and we're still seeing either low production numbers, order numbers that are too high, or both. Mattel acts like having figures in stock for more than a day means failure. All of the DCUC 2-packs sold out and they canceled them. Why? Because they didn't sell out fast enough. They want them to sell out in seconds so that we'll come back months from now and buy more and hopefully buy some in between.
HEY MATTEL: If you truly care about your fans, don't change Moss Man, don't mess with his packaging or anything else. A strict re-release so those who can get him will. At this point I'm looking at ebay. I know it's never good to help the scalpers, but I'm tired of hanging around forums bitching about it and reading others do the same. I'll pay whatever for Mossy and skip next month's figure. **** this bull, this upbeat great-job attitude from Mattel. Your fans are ****ed at you mattel, today is not a day to pat yourselves on the back.
Get a sub for 2011 and your problems solved. Game, set, and match for me. On a side note, thanks for the update on Moss Man toyguru. At least your giving us the rundown of what happened yesterday. You could easily ignore the crying and not post anything for these ungrateful members but you don't. Looking forward to April for Evil-Lyn, The Weapons Pack, Hordak, and of course Wun-Dar!!! Keep up the good work toyguru.

Say what you will about MattyCollector and Toyguru but the bottom line is that he does keep his hand on the pulse and feedback given on these forums and his communication is satisfactory for me. It makes sense and the simple fact that a company even opens its doors to us for open discussion and communication is impressive in and of itself. Thanks for handling all of us with professionalism and insightful feedback on the process of our favorite toy line.

While I don't disagree with a lot that you said, that's what the bundle page is for. I bought multiple items and only had to visit one page to do so.

I really don't understand why Mattel seems to be against increasing sales on this line...unless they like creating artificial demand for figures by keeping supply low and keeping the line "hot." There are plenty of people that missed out on buying the subscription because they came late to the game. I'm a rational consumer and refuse to sign up for EVERY figure a year in advance without knowing what I'll be getting. I'm not that big a fan of the line.
It's great that subscribers are rewarded with Wundar but non-subscribers are given a pretty big F-U. Sure June will have higher quantities produced but the first half of this year has been hellish and the reissue of the figures will be too little too late for me. I'm done. I'll be selling my figures in the next couple of weeks.

ahhh, before I leave I read some more of the input. Wow
again. Cheers for this line-love the ones I have and am please that Mattel brought them out. Wining is part of it, but I'm not wining. I'm making a decision or choice.....wiht thats about it with MOTU for me. Wouldn't mind evil lyn (maybe realistic skin and eyes someday), and Panthor just to even out the collection, but as I said, not holding my breath.
all the issues that Mattel brings up. come on guys. Its a game, and a game that will continue with increasing numbers of figures going out but still keeping shy. This is how it works to keep demand and interest up and money coming in (like gambling addiction). Its a game. A smart game at that and nothing wrong with it. And the 1-4 figures bought at a time. laugh. I love business myself.
Love the feedback and the concerns. And to the fact the interest will grow, they will get more popular....ah, I'm not passing the interest on to my kids, although they might grab it themselves. So maybe it will be just for the old fans and eventually burn down or keep about the same fan base. Who knows, Mattel will keep stats of course. Everything cycles. Transformers--awsome for any age whether family encouragement or interest is there. affordable, available.
perhaps someone should think along the same lines as Henry Ford. make them affordable for the General Public and make enough. that population is what the world is mostly made up of and you will be remembered and honored ofr it. Seems to be the Class/status issue right now. But good move to the retail stores. Even thought the general public (moms/dads like myself) will shy away from the price of these figures for their own kids to destroy.
Good luck fellow toy/80s lovers.
