It's like people don't listen. Scott said they were not going to be able to adjust the production numbers right away and that until She-Ra, sell outs will be frequent, but when the sell outs happen people just lose their marbles.

MOTUC is serious business.

You could re-sell them easily and even gain some money with it the way it is now... but that would make you an evil scalper!

We have the power!

Well i cant argue with anything Toyguru said. there was the poll ages ago asking what limit we wanted and the majority chose 10 id imagine then. Perhaps do a new poll to see what people want, circumstances change and people change, new poll, new research perhaps new outcomes!

Thank you for the informative update TG.
I think everything was right to the point and every subject was hit right on the head. Plus, several of these points have been stated more than once, fans need to read things before they flip out. Giving us 3 weeks to subscribe in 2010 was plenty of time to join up. I suspect they will give about the same time frame to sign up for 2011 as well, so there really should be no problem there, that is ample time to get to a computer and sign up.

What we will do is when we bring Moss Man back down the road, we'll go into production from the start on both flocked and non flocked ears 50/50 so their is plenty to go around!

Scott

Hi Scott,

I missed out on both Moss Man yesterday. I was on Matty at 11:58 am EST, had both Moss Man versions and DCUC12 set in my cart, and during the checkout process, first the flocked, and then the unflocked Moss Man sold out. It was very frustrating. Nonetheless, I am happy to get my set of DCUC12, and most importantly, I am happy you will be releasing both versions of Moss Man in the future. I have never experienced items being sold out in the matter of seconds while they are in my cart, so I hope that you can produce the next batch of Moss Man figures in reasonable numbers so that all of us who want them, can get them. I refuse to pay secondary market prices for any of these figures, and will wait patiently for Moss Man's re-release.

Thank you !

You think buying a subscription is limited to whether or not we can reach a computer within 3 weeks? I think a lot of you Marie-Antoinettes are missing the point here.
And yes Balboa, we're going to keep crying. One of the most anticipated figures of the year sold out faster than anything yet and Mattel is treating it like a success. Yay for them, and congrats to the people who got one. All I ask is that you think about the thousands of us who obviously didn't. Mattel makes a killing off of this line every month and they act like they're really surprised at its success.
Well its been months of sellouts and we're still seeing either low production numbers, order numbers that are too high, or both. Mattel acts like having figures in stock for more than a day means failure. All of the DCUC 2-packs sold out and they canceled them. Why? Because they didn't sell out fast enough. They want them to sell out in seconds so that we'll come back months from now and buy more and hopefully buy some in between.

HEY MATTEL: If you truly care about your fans, don't change Moss Man, don't mess with his packaging or anything else. A strict re-release so those who can get him will. At this point I'm looking at ebay. I know it's never good to help the scalpers, but I'm tired of hanging around forums bitching about it and reading others do the same. I'll pay whatever for Mossy and skip next month's figure. **** this bull, this upbeat great-job attitude from Mattel. Your fans are ****ed at you mattel, today is not a day to pat yourselves on the back.

Look, no offense Toyguru, but sorry, you can only give us a reasoning behind everything for so long before it loses it grasp. I got Moss Man yesterday, but this is complete utter bs that figures are selling out in less than an hour, let alone 5 minutes. Why even bother selling the figures at all to non-subscribers? I mean it sounds like that is pretty much the way Mattel really wants to go with this line. You would think that after the jokes from last year they would have learned to have increase the production because as the figures continue to grow, so will its fanbase. I bet the series will be twice as popular next year from people who get into it at the end of this year. What then? Are you guys just going to sit there and still only produce enough to last 4 minutes? I fear I might not get an Evil-Lyn next month, or a Tytus in May. And my god, Faker, She-Ra, and Keldor in June. Lastly, the shopping cart is an issue. What is the point of one if the items aren't yours until after you pay for it? You don't go into Best Buy, having an item you want given to the cashier, but the cashier sells it to the guy ahead of you in line does he/she? How would you like it if that were to happen? When an item is placed in your shopping cart, you should have 10 minutes to finish your order, because you know, people want to shop for other things. I had to buy DCU Wave 12 as a seperate order thanks to the fear that I might not have Moss Man if I wanted that extra minute, and it looks like he would have been gone had I did that.

I for one am thankful for the response. Yesterday is the first time I missed out on a figure (I wanted my extra Moss Man to display with the other head), but I do have my subscription figure so I'm not too bummed about waiting for a reissue. The fact that the reissue will include both versions is even better news.

For those that don't want the sub or like myself, need an extra every now and then, I do hope Matty is able to reach a better balance for the nonsubscription figures. I do understand the time lag between uping production though.

I honestly run hot/cold on any given day as to how utterly ****ed I am at Matty for making such oaffish statements as: "that caught everyone by surprise." Honestly, if sales are still catching everyone by surprise, perhaps you guys should fold up shop and go back to making Barbie dolls.

Part of me is very sorry to sound so blatantly hostile with my remarks, but a 5 minute sell out isn't surprise, it's just poor planning- plain and simple. So why do you continue to punish us, Matty? When are you finally going to get a handle on producing enough of these so that we- your loyal but completely frustrated buying public- can get a fair chance?

Plain and simple, subs appear to be the only way to go. And yes, I know I'm being forced down the pipe like every other person here to that buying method, even though I find it slightly Bernie Madoff-like of Mattel to make us all do this. Oh well, I suppose the alternatives are now few.

If you aren't a real doctor, Dr Kain, you should be! Great remarks, and I echo and agree with each and every concern you've voiced here.

Well,
I feel like I'm going down the street an ran into an angry mob. Lol
I'm new to MOTUC and was planning on getting a subscription but I don't even now if I should start collecting this line at all or I should save the money and feed my kids.
For what I've seen so far, no matter which method we use to get these figures, we (the fans) will keep getting screwed!
First impression always count Matty! BTW, I'm still waiting for Toy Guru to answer my question on the "Ask Matty Forum",
so thanks a lot Scott for ignoring your fans!

I'm no even got started with this line and I'm already starting to sound like the rest of the people of this forums!

Hey Matty, with the $2 price increase per figure, you can get us better QC and more tooling, right?

Ok so for the past year we have heard:

Matty wants product to be available online for a few weeks.

then one hour or less sell outs become the norm.

Matty says buy a subscription.

Bonus figures remain available for a few weeks and are considered FAILURES!

Matty makes production beyond subscriptions so low that sellouts become minutes!

Matty says buy an all inclusive sub next year.

Matty says production numbers will be increased beginning June. (Yet to see effects of this)

MOTUC sets a bizarre business model by which all other lines are judged. DCUC 2 packs are abandoned because they did not sell out in hours or minutes. JLU packs are abandoned because of the same.

This is a terrible business model from a consumer standpoint. But great from a Corporate. Matty will continue to alienate fans as long as they are making the money. No need to adjust anything until the sell outs stop in their eyes.

I am of the mind that these should be available for some time. at least a month. Subs should not be necessary. They should be a convenience for the complete collector, like a collector's club. Figures should still be available for the casual collector without all of the headache and fear.

It is most likely never going to happen, but it really should.

I've pretty much had it with Mattycollector.

Because Mattel refuses to make supply that meets demand, or even set smaller limits on how many figures one buyer can purchase, I have missed out on He-Man, Faker, Skeletor and Battle Cat. Since Mattel seems intent on steering me to eBay, that's what I will start doing. If I pre-order a figure from an ebay seller costs $40 or $45, sure I am paying more, but I won't have to put up with the inevitable frustration aqnd uncertainty of dealing with Mattycollector. It's just ridiculous that every month there are issues on sale day, and the message afterward is always the same: "We are working on improving things!" -- but when do improvements actually happen? It seems like the same crap over again every month.

Another thing: Why does Mattel take out full-page adds in ToyFare for each figure if it's so hard for nonsubscribers to even buy a figure? It seems pointless.
