I have been on Barbie Collector for at least 8 years. I've never experienced server shut downs or pages telling me I'm waiting in a queue. I've always received the item I wanted. Everyone has a chance to get the items, and we can place pre-orders to ensure we get what we want. The forums aren't filled with angry people who are apparently continually frustrated. We actually get to have discussions with designers too.
I love She-ra. I have fond childhood memories. Throughout my adult life, I have had reoccuring dreams that I walk into a store and found my beloved dolls/figures reissued. It's such a happy dream, but I wake up with a bittersweet reality that it's not going to happen. Then Matty Collector announces it's making She-ra, not just MOTU. Even though the designs for both Adora and She-ra are butch and(compared to the old dolls), are kind of ugly, I still had to have these because it allowed me to recapture some of my childhood. She-ra and Adora are the only figures I've sought on Matty Collector. It has been a terrible experience. Today, I clicked on She-ras link at 11:55. It put me in a reload queue until 12:07. I added two to my cart. I entered my address and credit card info. I clicked "Submit Order" and after another 5 minutes, when it finally connected was then told she was sold out. How is that possible if it's in my cart? I felt completely robbed. Allowing a quantity of 10 to be purchased ensures that Matty Collector is only catering to scalpers. If they actually cared about individual collectors, the limit would be 2 or 3. The economics of the situation do not make sense. Matty Collector doesn't make the extra $10-$25 that ebay sellers get when they sell these figures. Matty Collector would only get money on the initial sale, (unless the rumors of ebay schemes are true). So why cater to the resale market and scalpers? The production numbers of She-ra were higher than the usual MOTU figure. Really? The amount should have been AT LEAST doubled. MOTU collectors were usually the brothers of those of us who bought Princess of Power. Did Matty factor in that all the MOTU collector men would want this figure, and would be matched by new purchasers of the PoP figures that are primarily women? Since this is based on a doll that appealed to girls, not boys, have Barbie Collector handle the PoP line. Please give the Princess of Power line to Barbie Collector that way we can talk to designers and have beautiful figures that look like our old ones. Please give She-ra to Barbie Collector.com, so we can actually have a fair chance to buy the item that can be pre-ordered, so the correct production amount is made. Give us back our childhood dreams. |
