This past Monday on the site during the online SDCC item sale, there seemed to be an issue where even after getting past the white refresh screen and getting into the site, the automatic refresh every 5 seconds still continued to happen. I was the only one to have this issue, there have been other who experienced the same thing. Often times when it refreshed again after getting through to the site, it would put people back into the white refresh screen.

Is it known why this happened and is there a solution in the works to prevent this in the future?

The refresh screen exists to help keep the server up and running during high-volume times, like during a sale. It's supposed to just refresh the page once, and then stop for a bit, then refresh again, not refresh over and over again, as many people experienced.

We're currently looking into the reasons why the refresh screen just kept refreshing, and we hope to have a resolution for that error soon.
