UK fan wants answers from someone in Mattel please!

Dear Mattel,

I just read on a UK forum that Mattel UK have no plans to bring in the Legends series to the UK!!!

I was given a number for Mattel UK and called them and they confirmed this just a few minutes back.

HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE!!!

The UK is one of the WWEs biggest markets and Jakks Classic figures sold extremely well over here.

I would be greatful for a response on this as I really am not appreciating the decision at the moment and it is seriously putting me off wanting to purchase any of the Mattel WWE line!

yeah Ireland isnt getting them either.my friend works ion the warehouse for Smyths and he says although Smyths were interested in tem Mattel say"they have no plans to ship these to Europe.

sucks *** to be honest.I wasnt overly impressed with series 2 but 3 and 4 are superb with Vader,Demolition,Pillman etc all inbound.I am lcky enough to have a pal stateside that helped me with TRU multi packs from Jakks and has offered to do so again with Mattel legends.

but I will have to go through RSC now for most of these.....and when word gets out that Legends are now US exclusive(more or less)online retailers will drive the prices through the ****in roof.RSC is already charging 22+ for these.....

Seeing as how nobody can be bothered to take the time to give any form of answer or at least acknowledgement I have taken the decision to simply not collect the WWE lines. I am also choosing not to re-new my MOTU subscription for 2011 too.

I don't think I was asking for too much here and if Mattel can't offer me any form of support then I don't see why I should spend my hard earned money on their products.

I asked the question in the ask matty section and TG has been there several times since and has ignored the question.

Sorry for the delay in response, Bestman. The DC/MOTU side of MattyCollector has had their act together for a long time, but we're just getting our WWE Q&A stuff up and running. In the future, you can count on questions like this being answered in the new monthly Q&A thread.

Our retailers in the UK have been less interested in Legends than in the modern-era Basics and Elites, with their argument being that there aren't as many old-school fans outside of the US. But if there's enough fan demand, we'd love to see our Legends around the world.

Any other UK fans itching for Legends that you don't have to import from US collector sites? Post in this thread and we'll send your demands to our British sales guys. We'll keep you posted on any news about international Legends, but we hope that in the meantime we don't lose your business on figures based on current Superstars!

Thanks for the post - appreciate it. Guess I jumped the gun on my annoyance.

I have connections to a UK high street retailer and I know for a fact that they have been asking Mattel UK for them.

I also know one highstreet chain is currently in a deal to import them over from an independent supplier (I won't mention the chain because might not be public news yet) so demand can't be that poor.

Has anyone from Mattel UK actualy countered the comments of the other retailers and said how about you take a test wave and see how they sell rather than dismiss it? Surely that is the way to go and then if they don't shift then fair enough but I really fail to see how the retailers have come to that conclusion!

Yes I would love to see the Legends Line in UK shops, I have been waiting for this since i saw them in Protos, How can the UK Market say they are not sure about them selling, I mean I know shops that sold out with a few hours of stocking the Classic Lines for the last lot.

Come on UK, Sell the figures

I'd love to see the Legends line being released in the UK! I am definitely more of a current guys collector, but I bought the Legends Stone Cold from an import shop. Not too interested in the rest of series 1, and only want Jake the Snake from series 2, but the line from series 3 onwards looks incredible!

I'm already collecting Entrance Greats from import shops/websites because they're not available here, I'll end up doing the same with Legends if they're not brought to UK retailers.

Oh, another point -- I posted some of the SDCC pics of the new Legends figures on some UK wrestling sites, and there were numerous responses along the lines of "I don't collect wrestling figures, but I'd definitely be tempted by some of these."

Actualy the above poster gave me an idea.

Maybe Mattel can confirm what the UK response was to the SDCC Undertaker online sale?

That figure is a classic - lets not have any rubbish about the fact it's a current main event name thus doesn't apply.

Taker wore that outfit years back and if UK retailers are 'supposedly' correct then UK fans would not remember or care for a classic version.

I really want to see the Legends line on UK shelves, I for one am not willing to pay very expensive import prices for these and it's very unfair how the UK is a big market for WWE yet we don't get all of the figure lines from Mattel!

I want to see them in my local stores!

Mattel - just a quick update on something you may wish to consider.

TWO major retailers here just got in from Jakks their new Legends figures which are an extension of the Classic figures.

Not only have they been flying off the shelves but both stores confirmed they will continue to buy future waves.

Which leaves two possible options that only you can answer...

1/ UK retailers view Jakks legends/classic figures as superior to Mattel figures and would rather order them.

2/ The feedback that Mattel UK is supposed to be getting from UK retailers is absolute rubbish.

I am sorry that I am giving you a hard time on this Mattel but as I have mentioned before I know of retailers who are asking Mattel UK for them and clearly retailers are willing to stock the Jakks Classic wrestling figures so I am starting to lean to point 2!!! SOMETHING DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!

Legends are the only ones im intrested in. My little bro collects the new ones but even they seem a little hard/expensive to get hold of considering how much the USA get them for... Confused

I have had to add that i'm really intrested in quite a few of these but at the minute there more in pounds in the UK than they are in dollars in USA.

Anyone know where to get them at a resonable price?

I'm dying to get hold of all the Mattel WWE Legends, but cannot afford to pay import prices for every figure, so currently I have to pick & choose only the essential characters. In other words, the figures that Jakks didn't make, like Ricky Steamboat.

I did buy the SDCC Undertaker though, and if the rest of the classic roster was available in UK shops I would not hesitate to buy every last one of them.

I'd love to upgrade my Jakks Classics collection by purchasing the Mattel versions.
